Snezhnaya is finally here. After six years of Fatui monologues, half-answered questions, and a Cryo Archon who mostly existed as a shadow looming over every other region's story, Version 7.0 opens the gates to the nation itself. If you've been following Genshin since Mondstadt, this is the payoff patch.

What Snezhnaya Actually Is

Snezhnaya is the seventh and last of Teyvat's nations, ruled by the Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon. It's the home base of the Fatui, the organization that's been quietly (and not so quietly) meddling in every region's affairs since the game launched. The place itself is built around extreme cold, heavy industry, and a kind of grim self-sufficiency. Blizzards here can last a month straight, yet the people who live under them are described as looking up at the sky and simply being glad to be alive. That contrast, harsh land and stubborn warmth, is basically the emotional thesis of the region.

Travelers reach the main city, Snezhnograd, by train through the frozen wastes, and the city itself houses the Korolevskiy Theater, Fatui Headquarters, and the Northland Bank's main branch. Other notable areas include Fellfrost Peak to the southeast and White Birch Snowgrave, tied to the very first Cryo Archon, the Belyi Tsar. Childe's hometown, Morepesok, is also explorable for the first time.

The Story Snezhnaya Has Been Building Toward

The Archon Quest here is doing a lot of heavy lifting. It's meant to reveal the Tsaritsa's actual agenda, explain what happened to the six Gnoses the Fatui spent the whole game collecting, and unpack the political tension between Snezhnaya's various factions. Expect familiar Harbingers like Sandrone, Pulcinella, and Pierro to show up alongside new faces, plus a storm crisis tied to a figure called the Ruler of Death, Ronova. HoYoverse has been clear that this isn't meant to be the game's ending, just the final region, so don't expect the whole story to wrap in one patch.

Meet the Tsaritsa

The Cryo Archon's full name is Anastasya Feodorovna Snezhnaya, and her design finally went public in the "Sudden Snow" trailer. She's imposing, distant, and every bit as cold as her domain suggests. Here's the catch though: she isn't playable yet. Leaks and community trackers point toward Version 7.2 or 7.3 for her debut, which lines up with how every previous Archon has been handled, arriving near the emotional peak of their region's arc rather than at the very start.

Who You Can Pull From Snezhnaya

Snezhnaya's roster is rolling out gradually across several updates, not all at once. Here's what's confirmed for 7.0 and what's currently expected further down the line.

Expected in future updates:

Community leakers have laid out a rough roadmap for the rest of Snezhnaya's cast, though none of this is officially confirmed and details can still change before release:

  • Vesna and Vodyanitsa – 7.1's two new 5-stars, an Anemo sword DPS and a Hydro catalyst healer respectively.
  • Mitya and Valeriy – rumored for 7.2, both Electro units.
  • The Tsaritsa – the Cryo Archon herself, widely expected around 7.2 or 7.3, following the same pattern every previous Archon has set by debuting near the climax of their region's story.

Stellar Reactions, Briefly

Snezhnaya's signature combat gimmick is the Stellar Glimmer family, most notably Stellar-Conduct, essentially a supercharged version of Superconduct built around Cryo and Electro. It's the first time HoYoverse has really pushed Superconduct-adjacent reactions into being worth building a team around instead of avoiding by accident.

What's Next

Version 7.0 is really the setup patch. The real Tsaritsa reveal, and likely her playable kit, is still a few versions out. For now, Snezhnaya is worth exploring for the story alone, even before min-maxing your team around it.
